Summer of Eat Pray Love (or Live Laugh Love?)

Summer of Eat Pray Love (or Live Laugh Love?)

What started out as a joke turned into a spontaneous road trip of me just enjoying myself, enjoying the little moments, and savoring every bit of it. I had met up with one of my best friends Emma late the night before in Salida, CO, where she lives. Just outside town we were planning to do a sunrise hike of one of my favorite lakes. Funny enough, we fell asleep at the trailhead at 3 am saying we were going to just take a short little nap-- which turned into a three hour nap. We woke up as the sun rose and decided to just drive up the mountain pass to watch the sunrise. As we peaked over the pass, the cloud inversion was absolutely gorgeous. We parked the car, listened to some of our favorite music and just enjoyed the view.
That, right there, was enough, I was filling my cup with just being in the present.

I turned to Emma and I told her, "this is the summer of eat, pray, love, where I just do me, slow down, and enjoy moments like these. Live, Laugh, Love." That right there is what started this joke, that isn't really a joke, but a great way to learn to be happy.
Happiness is truly realizing the value in being present. When you realize that stressing and worrying about the future isn't going to get you anywhere, you can just enjoy the moment.
After we took a short walk, I dropped Emma off, and I kept driving deeper into the mountains. Over the next couple of days, I made my way through the mountains. I went Crested Butte to hunt for fields of wildflowers (which is pretty easy considering the location). I enjoyed the sound of thunder and rain sleeping in the back of my car Silverton. I hung out at small coffee shops and bars. I watched some Fourth of July fireworks that lit up a valley. I soaked up the small things, enjoyed the moment, and was happy just being alone with my two sweet australian sheperds. With that said, I'm starting a blog to share the good, the bad, and the stoke that drives my joy.
In order to share my small moments with you, I am creating series of limited paintings for my upcoming trips! Each of the mini paintings for different trips I am taking will be pre-sold, in a limited number, by location or subject! These will all come with more personal, handwritten, stories than the ones you'll find on my blog. You can purchase these paintings and support me here.
Cheers to living in the moment and romanticizing the small things in our lives.
